SecuX X-SEED: metal seed phrase storage you engrave yourself
The SecuX X-SEED is a metal seed phrase storage kit for anyone who keeps crypto in a software or hardware wallet and wants the recovery words held offline on metal instead of paper. The kit has two AL5052 aluminium plates and two SS304 stainless steel plates, each 86 × 54 mm, with a tungsten steel engraver, a protective case and two tamper-proof stickers. What the SecuX X-SEED does

Keeps the backup offline: the recovery words sit on metal plates, which SecuX describes as off the radar and out of reach from hackers and attackers on the internet.

Engraves quickly: use the included engraver to write the recovery words in the right sequence on an aluminium plate. SecuX says a full set takes only a few minutes.

Takes stamped letters too: the stainless steel plates can be stamped with a hammer and a steel punch set, which are not included with this model.

Stands up to water and fire: SecuX states that the stainless steel plates resist fire and temperatures as high as 1454 °C, and that engraved or stamped letters do not get washed away.

Shows tampering: seal the plates together with the two tamper-proof stickers. A broken seal tells you that someone has opened the set.
Who the SecuX X-SEED suits and what it works with
SecuX presents the X-SEED as the place to start with a damage-resistant seed phrase backup. The SecuX X-SEED plates record only the recovery words, so SecuX rates them as compatible with any software or hardware wallet that uses the standard 12, 18 or 24 recovery words, MetaMask and SecuX hardware wallets among them. How many recovery words does the SecuX X-SEED hold?
SecuX states that each plate takes up to 24 recovery words. With two aluminium and two stainless steel plates, the kit stores up to 8 backup sets of 12 words or 4 backup sets of 24 words.
Can I stamp the stainless steel plates?
Yes. SecuX says stainless steel works best with the stamping method, done with a hammer and a steel punch set on a hard metal surface such as a steel block. None of those items is in the SecuX X-SEED box. SecuX includes the steel punch set with the X-SEED Plus only.
Is the SecuX X-SEED fireproof and waterproof?
SecuX lists the X-SEED as fireproof and waterproof. Its figures are a melting temperature of 1454 °C for the SS304 stainless steel plates and 662 °C for the AL5052 aluminium plates.
What are the tamper-proof stickers for?
After recording the recovery words you seal the plates together with the stickers. SecuX explains that a broken seal shows that someone has accessed the backup.
Where should I keep the SecuX X-SEED?
SecuX advises a safe place, stored the way you would keep valuable jewellery, property deeds, certificates and important documents. SecuX also points out that a steel backup cannot protect you against loss or theft, so it belongs in a secret location that only people you trust can reach.
