SecuX NeoGold: a touchscreen hardware wallet with a gold finish

The SecuX NeoGold is a hardware wallet for crypto and NFTs with a 2.8-inch colour touchscreen and a gold-plated plastic body. It uses an Infineon SLE 97 secure element chip certified to CC EAL5+ and connects to the SecuX Wallet app on iOS and Android over encrypted Bluetooth. SecuX describes the Neo series as offline and self-custodial. The NeoGold is the gold model of the two and suits people who want a large screen for checking each transaction before they sign it.

Who the SecuX NeoGold suits and what it works with

SecuX presents the NeoGold as the Neo model with a premium gold finish and the same security as the Neo-X. It works with the SecuX Wallet app and no other app, on a phone or tablet running iOS 12 or later or Android 6.0 or later, and SecuX’s comparison page lists no computer connection for the Neo series. MetaMask and WalletConnect are listed for access to decentralised apps.

The NeoGold and the Neo-X share the chip, the screen, the battery and the 5,000+ asset support. The Neo-X has an aluminium body in space grey, weighs 100 g, shows NFT artwork on the device and adds two X-SEED backup sheets and an engraving pen to the box. The NeoGold weighs 76 g and comes with two recovery sheets.

What is the difference between the SecuX NeoGold and the Neo-X?

The Neo-X has an aluminium body, weighs 100 g, displays NFT artwork and includes two X-SEED backup sheets and an engraving pen.

Does the SecuX NeoGold work with a computer?

How is the SecuX NeoGold protected if someone else picks it up?

You set a PIN of 4 to 8 digits and enter it on a dynamic keypad. SecuX states that the wallet resets automatically after 5 unsuccessful PIN entries. The screen lock time can be set to 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes.

How do you back up the SecuX NeoGold?

During setup the wallet generates 24 recovery words. You write them on a recovery sheet from the box, and the Seed Check function lets you confirm later that you saved them correctly. SecuX’s guide says never to share, save or upload the words online.

Which networks does SecuX list for the Neo series?

SecuX’s support guide lists more than 5,000 coins and tokens on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Solana and Tron, and NFTs on Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain and Solana. Check SecuX’s supported assets list for a specific coin before you rely on it.
