The Nextorch myStar R is built around the same Osram P9 LED and Fresnel focusing lens as the myStar V2.0, but adds an AA battery cartridge. When the rechargeable pack runs down on a long trip you swap in three AAs and keep going.

Practical use

Rotate the head from a wide flood for camp chores to a tight spot for the trail ahead; the mechanism works with gloves on. High gives about 4 hours 45 minutes, medium over 8 hours and low around 81 hours on the rechargeable pack. The head tilts through 60 degrees and there is an SOS mode for emergencies. IPX4 rated for rain.

  • Dual power: 3,000 mAh USB-rechargeable pack or 3 x AA
