Spyderco Civilian RT Spyder Black G10 (C12GS)

Spyderco C12GS Civilian

The Spyderco C12GS Civilian is a purpose-built self-defense folding knife, originally developed in the early 1990s at the request of law enforcement professionals (particularly undercover officers). It features a highly specialized reverse-“S” hawkbill blade optimized for deep, efficient slashing and ripping cuts with minimal effort.

Key Features & Design

Blade: 4.13″ (105 mm) VG-10 stainless steel reverse “S” hawkbill with a full SpyderEdge (serrated) edge. The blade is hollow-ground with an ultra-thin tip and curved profile designed to hook and slice deeply through clothing and soft targets. VG-10 offers excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance.

Mechanism: Sturdy back lock for reliable lockup.

Handle: Ergonomic black G-10 scales, contoured for a secure grip even under stress. The handle is relatively slender yet provides excellent retention.

Opening: Spyderco’s signature Trademark Round Hole for fast one-handed opening.

Carry: Stainless steel pocket clip (originally tip-down, with some models supporting reversible options) and a lanyard hole.

The design has earned a cult following among knife enthusiasts, law enforcement, and those seeking a capable backup tool.
