The blade is made of 8Cr13MoV. Quite the name, we agree, but what you need to know is the following: 8Cr13MoV is easy to sharpen to a razor-sharp edge. Its sharpness retention is okay, and it's pretty corrosion resistant. It is a popular budget steel because it performs well for its relatively low price.

The blade features a blackwashed finish. For this finish, the blade is first finished with a coating, then tumbled. This makes the blade look like it has been around for a while, kind of like jeans. A big advantage of this is that traces of use will be much less noticeable.
