The 1 lb canister is the largest size in Byrna's Bad Guy Repellent MAX line, built for home, vehicle, or property defense rather than everyday carry. It uses the same Hell Pepper and tear gas stream-spray formula with Attacker Tracker UV marking dye as the smaller BGR MAX canisters, but its far larger volume gives it a longer effective range and much more total spray time to cover multiple attackers or a wider area. Its size makes it better suited to being kept at a fixed location than carried on a belt or in a bag.
